Human Sexuality in Bram Stokers Dracula
In the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker, we experience the traditional ways of the nineteenth century. there are strict gender bureaus for the tight-laced man and adult female. by means of the acts of romanticism, sexuality, and seduction, Stoker introduces the idea of the New Woman and its effects on men by lessening their ability to control their crave of forthcoming women and he portrays a man who yearns for the pure jockey that only a wife can give. Thus, it is important to hear the notion of the New Woman and its effect on the Victorian man.
The roles of women during Victorian times were considered to be constricted. During these times the female role is portrayed as pure and clean. Women during the Victorian time sportsman domesticated roles such as wives and mothers. Stoker depicts the women of this novel to be slightly ahead of its time. He compares and contrasts two beautiful besides different women. Lucy is a wealthy maiden with three suitors; she portrays the craft of seduction and is open with her sexuality. However, Mina is a pure woman who is not as wealthy and plays the role of a on the job(p) woman when compared to other women in the nineteenth century.
Nonetheless, in their throw way, both Lucy and Mina are examples of the ideal Victorian woman.
