E. Lynn Harris was born in Flint, Michigan, but was raised with his terzetto sisters in Little Rock, Arkansas. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he became the schools first black yearly editor, the first black male cheerleader, and the president of his fraternity. He was an honors fine-tune in journalism. Harris worked for IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and AT&T for 13 geezerhood while living in Dallas, Washington, D.C. and Atlanta. E. Lynn quit his job to economize his first tonic, Invisible Life, but could not find a publisher, so he create it himself in 1991 and sold besides to black owned bookstores, hair salons, and book clubs, before anchorperson Books discovered him. Anchor published Invisible Life on paperback in 1994, and his career was officially started.
Harris followed with books Just As I Am (1994), And This Too Shall Pass (1996), If This World Were mine (1997), and Abide With Me, (1999) all published by Doubleday. All of his books bear been bestsellers. However, And This Too Shall Pass, If This World Was Mine, Abide With Me, Not A sidereal day Goes By, and A hunch forward of My Own were New York Times bestsellers. They too made the bestsellers list for the Washington stain, Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, regular army Today, Entertainment Weekly, and the Los Angeles Times.
Invisible Life and Just As I Am was optioned for film by Showtime and Not A Day Goes By was requested for film by Pam Grier for her takings company. Harriss work has appeared in American Visions, Essence, the Washington Post Sunday Magazine, Savoy, The Advocate, and the award winning anthology Brotherman: The Odyssey of Black Men in America, Go The Way Your Blood Beats. A short novel Money Cant Buy Me Love was published in Got To Be Real : Four Original Love Stories (December 2000). In 2002, his short fiction appeared in Gumbo: A Celebration of African American Writers (Harlem Moon), a collection he co-edited with Marita Golden.
